1.How to Enter Hainan Visa Free:
Travelers holding ordinary passports who are eligible under Hainan’s 59 Country Visa Free Entry Policy should register at the port of entry on arrival. These travelers may stay in Hainan for 30 days (counted from 00:00 on the day after entry).
Note: Travelers from the 59 visa free entry eligible countries may travel from or through Hong Kong or any other place outside Chinese mainland with a direct flight to Hainan.

2.The definition of "transit":
Round-trip tickets are not allowed as they do not not qualify as “transit”.
Passengers must, however, prove to the airline before boarding and again to immigration authorities after arriving that they have a ticket to leave the city or province – usually by air -to a place outside Chinese mainland where they did not start their journey.
A passenger may reach Shanghai visa free from Singapore, for example, and then proceed to Tokyo – or fly from the special administrative region of Macau to Xiamen and onwards to Taipei.
